Neurorehabilitation Assistant Training Day

NAP’s bespoke services now include Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) support. “The RAs will allow therapists and clinicians to offer better and more comprehensive neurological rehabilitation support to patients in the community”, Mr Conradie (Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist) said after the second training event, held on 20th January 2016.

6 of the rehabilitation assistants were able to attend a training morning on 20th January 2016. The training covered some of the areas that they will need to consider when working with clients in a community rehabilitation setting. LJ Conradie (Consultant Neurospychologist) and Andrea Dennis (Occupational Therapist) both delivered a case presentation to help the rehab assistants consider the theory that they learnt in a practical way. Dawn Peerbhoy (Clinical Psychologist) spoke about cognitive rehabilitation and what some of the challenges can be in this area, and Hugh Brunskill (Neuro-Physiotherapist) discussed what the role of the rehabilitation assistant would be from a physiotherapy perspective.
